What? is a horn-led funk rock jam band based out of New Paltz, New York. The band is known for their epic late-night endurance sets in New Paltz clubs like Snug Harbor and Bachus. With their growing following, What’s? calendar is booked from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and NYC to the Canadian Border. The band members all graduated with music majors at SUNY New Paltz and have been playing together since freshman year. Ryan Perrone on trombone, Dan Steen on guitar, Jared Nelson on Guitar and Keyboard, Jeremiah Mahoney on Bass, Alex Endres on percussion, and Russell Hartman on saxophone. (video clip)
Southern-born, Northern raised, Dylan Doyle has been steeped in everything from Bob Dylan, Wes Montgomery, and Bill Withers to John Prine, Jimi Hendrix, and The Band. From this comes a unique musical interpretation that lies somewhere within the delta of Roots, Rock, and Jazz, giving him a style that defies classification.
Dylan became a seasoned professional at a very young age. He has played with such notable musicians as Rob Stoner (Bob Dylan, Don Mclean), John Platania (Van Morrison, Natalie Merchant), Ben Cauley (Otis Redding), and Bill Payne (Little Feat). Stoner called Dylan one of the most prodigious players he has known with abundant natural talent. (video clip) (Friday Night is Guitar Night)(More)
Formerly known as the Barn Dogs, Birdsey Beers is led by singer songwriter Jerry Snover from Easton, CT. In Snover's early career he spent six years as a full-time professional musician expat in Osaka, Japan. Now living in Easton, CT he had created a musical home under the not so obscure name “Big Red Barn”, a 150-year-old barn now dedicated to supporting local music and events. It is there where he met Dan Broderick, Jody Matejka, and Jeff Gurner to complete the Easton based quartet of Birdsey Beers. (video clip) (More)
Becca Frame and Brian Shafer of Becca Frame and the Tall Boys captivate audiences with their vibrant performances, whether as a full band or an acoustic duo. With over a decade of collaboration, they infuse their sets with powerful vocals and masterful guitar work with their large book of original songs and covers from The Band to Amy Winehouse and The Grateful Dead. Their acoustic duo allows for intimate connections with audiences, whether at breweries, house parties, or shredding it at Morgan Pond Farm. Check out the full BFTB from last Summer's neighborhood social playing Jolene. Welcome Becca and Brian back to MPF. (video clip) (More)
Justin Friello - Since 2005, Friello has been performing professionally as a solo artist and as the lead in various bands in New York’s Capital Region and beyond. He’s opened for bands like Gin Blossoms, Village People, and Girl Talk. In 2016, Justin released his hybrid EP/Short Film, Jack & Jill, to a packed house, backed by an 8-piece ensemble. Justin’s songwriting is “punchy, driving, rhythmically intricate and layered,” full of “honest language,” and “overflowing with diverse creative ideas.” What has never changed throughout his career is a commitment to expertly crafted, emotionally intense lyrics and intricate guitar playing.
